Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 2, 2026
Gaming is better together, and that starts with trust. ggnomz exists to create more positivity in gaming. We’re building the wholesome corner of the internet for gamers, so we want to be as clear about your data as a good teammate is with their callouts. Here’s the full playbook.
This Privacy Policy explains how ggnomz (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses and shares information when you use ggnomz.com and our related sites and services (the “Service”). ggnomz is a positive gaming community where players share clips, recognize good play and connect with each other.
We are replacing our current website with a new version. This policy covers both, and some features described here may not be available yet. Questions? Email us at team@ggnomz.com.
Information we collect
Here’s what goes in our inventory.
Information from your gaming accounts. When you sign in with or link a Steam or Twitch account, we receive your account ID, display name and, where the platform provides them, your avatar and profile link. We do not receive your password for those services.
Your Steam games. When you log in with Steam, we read the games you’ve played from Steam, if your Steam game details allow it. If you keep your Steam playtime private, we may save all the games Steam shows us, including ones you haven’t played. We store each game’s name and Steam app ID, your total playtime, your playtime in the last two weeks and the date you last played it. This is stored in our Google Firebase database and updated each time you log in with Steam.
Information you give us. This can include:
- Your handle, bio, usual playtimes, gaming vibes and other profile details
- Your birth year, which we use to confirm your age and prize eligibility
- Contact channels you choose to add, such as Discord, Twitch or Instagram
- Your name and email address, if you sign up for a beta session, contact us or complete a form
- Your name, address and similar details, if you win a prize and we need them to deliver it
Content and activity. We collect the clips and links you submit, including titles, descriptions, games and behavior labels. We also collect your noms, contest entries, circle requests, blocks, reports, appeals and any evidence you provide.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our providers collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and referring site. We use cookies and similar technologies to run the Service, keep you signed in and complete logins securely. We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies, to understand how the Service is used.
How we use information
We use information to keep ggnomz running and give positive play the recognition it deserves. Specifically, we use it to:
- Provide the Service, including sign-in, profiles, clips, noms, circles and contests
- Help players recognize positive play and find people to play with
- Review clips and reports, enforce our rules and protect players
- Confirm eligibility, choose contest winners and deliver prizes
- Respond to you and send messages about your account or requests
- Understand how the Service is used and improve it
- Study clips, labels, noms and other activity to better understand positive play, build player reputation features and develop new products, which may include machine learning models
- Protect the Service from abuse, fraud and security threats, and meet legal obligations
What other players can see
Think of your profile as your player card. Your handle, bio, usual playtimes and vibes are public. Your public profile, approved clips, nom totals and linked platform names can be seen by others, including people without an account. Do not put anything in your profile or clips that you do not want to be public. The names of games you’ve played can appear on your public ggnomz profile. Your Steam hours and last-played dates stay private. Your birth year is never shown.
You control your contact channels. If you choose to share them only after an accepted circle request, we show them only to players whose request you accepted. A player you share with can keep what they see, so share carefully.
Please be careful about other people in your clips. If you appear in a clip and want it removed, tell us by using the report form or emailing team@ggnomz.com.
How we share information
We do not currently sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party ads. If we ever plan to sell or license personal information, it will only be to support our mission of creating more positivity in gaming, and we will update this policy first and give you notice and any choices the law requires. We currently share information only as follows:
- Service providers. We use providers to run the Service, including Google (Firebase, Google Cloud and Google Analytics) for hosting, data storage, sign-in and analytics, Cloudflare for video and web delivery, and our website hosting provider.
- Gaming platforms. We communicate with Steam and Twitch to verify your sign-in, show linked account details and read your Steam games. Clips linked from Twitch or YouTube are served by those companies.
- Contest sponsors. If a sponsor sends your prize, we share what it needs to deliver the prize.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may share information when the law requires it, or to protect players, the public or ggnomz.
- Business changes. If ggnomz is reorganized, merged or sold, information may transfer to the new owner, and this policy will continue to apply until it is changed.
We may share or license data that has been de-identified or combined so that it does not identify you. Clips you submit are also covered by the content license in our Terms & Conditions. The gaming platforms and other third parties have their own privacy policies, which apply to how they use your information.
How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may keep some information longer to enforce bans, resolve disputes, keep security records or meet legal obligations. Our analysis may keep using information that has been de-identified so that it no longer identifies you. If you hide your game details on Steam, we remove your saved games the next time you log in with Steam. When you delete your account in settings, we immediately remove your profile, handle, birth year, contact channels, saved Steam games and linked accounts. If you sign up again, you start fresh.
Existing accounts on our current website are not moved to the new website. The current website will shut down after the new one launches.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your profile, choose how your contact channels are shared, block other players and unlink accounts when those features are available. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, although parts of the Service may not work without them. To limit Google Analytics, you can use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
To ask for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, use your account settings where available or email team@ggnomz.com. We may need to confirm that the request is yours, and we may keep information where the law allows or requires it.
Depending on where you live, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you may have additional rights. These can include the right to object to or limit certain uses, to move your information to another service, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using your privacy rights.
Where laws in your location require a legal basis for using personal information, we rely on our agreement with you to provide the Service, our legitimate interests in running and protecting a positive community, your consent where we ask for it, and our legal obligations.
International users
ggnomz is based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information. These include restricting who can access stored data and keeping service credentials separate from our code. No online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee security.
Children
You must be at least 13 years old to use ggnomz. If you are under 13, please do not use the Service or give us any information. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Contests, rewards and prizes are open only to people 18 or older. Parents or guardians who believe a child under 13 has given us information can contact team@ggnomz.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ggnomz changes. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, give notice on the Service.
